About Us
Valley Christian High School Theatre Department is one of the premier High School Theatres in the state. We offer an array of courses for the budding young theatre artist with training in the areas of acting, directing, design, technical theatre and more. Training at VCT also includes a heavy emphasis on the practicum of theatre with opportunities for performance, construction, design, and directing in our state of the art, 200 seat, proscenium arch theatre equipped with computer opporated fly gallery, scene shop and dance studio. Our mission is to equip students with spiritual, artistic, academic and technical excellence in theatre; reclaiming the arts for Christ at the community, university and professional levels, bringing influence to the world. Please join us for our 2009-2010 Season beginning with the delightful comedy The Importance of Being Earnest by by Oscar Wilde performing September 2, 3, 4, 5. Our fall drama, The Crucible by Arthur Miller is sure to be powerful and thought provoking. Join us for performances on October 16, 18, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25. In the spring, the theatre department will team up with the award winning High School Jazz Department to present one of the American Film Institues top 100 Movie Musicals of all time, Singin' in the Rain . Be sure to mark your calendar for this toe tapping musical full of singing, dancing, and incredible visual spectacle that will include actual rain during the title number of the show! Singin in the Rain performs March 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27. In addition to our mainstage productions we offer numerous lunchtime performances produced by our Honors level Theatre and Technical Theatre students. In the spring these students will work direct and produce"Experiments in Comedy and Tragedy", a yet-to-be-announced, full length evening of theatre. This production will perform as part of Valley Christian Schools Festival of the Arts, May 13, 14, 15, 2010.
